DOGS: Shadow & Sophie
We rescued Shadow from Homewardpet.org in Woodinville in January of 2013. He was just a little over 1 year old. He loved chasing after balls and when we took him to Silver Lake to jump in the water and cool off, we knew he was going to be a DockDog. We joined the club in January and took Shadow to two events (Puyallup Spring Fair and the Bite of Seattle) before he made his first jump off the dock at the Clark County Fair. We paid for many, many jumps, before Shadow even made it off the dock and swimming lessons at Splashdog. Lots of practices, and when he finally jumped we were all so excited! His personal best is around 17 feet 2 inches.
Sophie joined our family in September of 2013. Shadow needed a playmate and Sophie needed a good home, so we adopted her and welcomed her into our family. She was only 7 months old at the time so she couldn’t jump at the first event she attended, (Issaquah Salmon Days). She enjoyed watching her brother Shadow jump and she was doing well jumping off the dock at Silver lake and downtown Seattle at the rowing club. We knew she was in as soon as she was old enough. So fun watching our little girl swim for the first time. Sophie’s first jump was at the Puget Sound Dock Dog competition at the Skagit Salmon Festival up near Mount Vernon. Her first jump was 8 foot 7 inches.
FIRST EVER EVENT: Shadow Puyallup Spring Fair 2013, Sophie tried to jump at the Spring Puyallup Fair in 2014, but like her brother, needed a couple of events to make it off the dock, which see finally did in Sept 2013 up in Skagit.
MOST MEMORABLE DOCKDOGS EVENT: August 2013 Clark County Fair, Shadow’s first jump off a competition dock!
FAVORITE MEMORY OFF THE DOCK: Sophie’s first official jump of 8 foot 7 where she swam and swam around the pool and didn’t want to get out!

Clayton and I moved out to the PNW about 4 years ago. I’ve never been involved with dog sports until I found PSDD. We started in the summer of 2012, the club challenge was our first event. I remember getting on the dock for the first time, he ran to the end and jumped in without hesitation, I actually didn’t even throw a toy in the water!!
PSDD has been great for meeting people and making new friends! I love the enthusiasm and love for the sport and dogs that everyone exudes at each event!!
I”m extremely happy and excited to be a part of such a wonderful club, it’s definitely brought a new found passion and joy to my life.
When we’re not on the dock Clayton and I are usually running, playing ball, swimming, hiking, and just plain having fun!
